2. Average a double-double

This goal is very attainable for the Swiss big man, especially when factoring in the minutes increase he should see in his fourth season. As discussed in an earlier slide, if Capela is able to improve his stamina enough to play around 27 to 28 minutes per game, there is no reason why he can’t average a double-double.

More from Hoops Habit

As pointed out previously, in March of last season he averaged 13.4 points and 9.4 rebounds per game while in April he averaged 15.8 points and 9.8 rebounds per game. In both of those months he played just over 25 minutes per game.

Then in the playoff series against the Spurs, Capela averaged a double-double with 13.0 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. In that series he played 29 minutes per game, which isn’t unrealistic for the upcoming regular season.

Finally, per 36 minutes Capela averaged 19 points and 12.2 rebounds. Now, he won’t come close to playing 36 minutes per game, but he will definitely play upwards of 27 minutes a night, giving him ample time to secure a double-double average for the season.

Last season the 23-year-old big man only had 15 double-doubles, which was tied for 36th in the league. This season it wouldn’t be a surprise to see that number jump up to over 40 double-doubles.

As we saw with Capela last season, with more playing time comes better numbers.
