2. Block 100 shots

The list of truly effective shot blockers has significantly diminished. Only 13 players, with only one non-center or power forward, managed to reject 100 or more shots last season.

A backup center, Kyle O’Quinn of the Knicks, managed to achieve the feat while playing an average of just 15.6 minutes per game. Brook Lopez was the only other player to average fewer than 30 minutes a game to reach the total.

Staying on the court for a prolonged period of time has proven to be a challenge for Dewayne Dedmon, as he has played over 30 minutes just three times.

Despite the limited time on the court, Dedmon managed to reject two or more shots on 15 occasions and was one of the most effective shot blockers in the league. Dedmon was one of just seven players to reject more than 60 shots while playing less than 20 minutes per game.

Atlanta has only one player, Miles Plumlee, to finish a season averaging more than one block per game. In need of a consistent shot blocking threat, Dedmon appears ready for the task.
