10. Lionel Simmons (SF) — No. 7 Pick in 1990 NBA Draft

Career stats:  407 GP, 12.8 PPG, 6.2 RPG, 3.3 APG, 1.1 SPG, .8 BPG, 2.2 TOV, 43.3 FG%, 30.5 3P%, 77.1 FT%

Delightfully nicknamed the “L-Train,” Lionel Simmons came to Sacramento after being one of the most prolific scorers in the collegiate ranks while playing at LaSalle University.

Simmons made a smooth transition upon coming to Sacramento, as he averaged 18.0 points, 8.8 rebounds and 4.0 assists in 79 appearances for his rookie season. He finished as the runner-up in NBA Rookie of the Year voting for the 1990-91 season, losing out to then-New Jersey Nets forward Derrick Coleman.

Simmons followed up with similarly productive seasons over the next few years and formed a fiery dynamic duo with the arrival of Hall of Fame guard Mitch Richmond, who the team acquired from the Golden State Warriors at the start of the 1991-92 season.

But after experiencing four solid seasons, Simmons’ career started to take a turn as knee injuries started to limit his play and overall availability. After seven seasons in Sacramento, Simmons hung it up for good following the 1996-97 season.
