1. Oscar Robertson (PG) — No. 1 Pick in 1960 NBA Draft

Career stats (with the Royals):  752 GP, 29.3 PPG, 8.5 RPG, 10.3 APG, 48.9 FG%, 83.7 FT%

The original “Mr. Triple-Double,” Oscar Robertson is undoubtedly the most talented player to ever don a uniform for the Royals/Kings franchise. Like Lucas, Robertson was drafted as a territorial selection and started crafting an illustrious career from the moment he joined the team back in 1960.

Endless accolades only followed for the Cincinnati product, starting with Rookie of the Year, 10 consecutive All-Star nods, 10 straight All-NBA honors, being named the Most Valuable Player for the 1963-64 season and of course, averaging a triple-double over an entire season in 1961-62.

All of those feats occurred in the 10 years Robertson was with the Royals, and even putting it in those terms is selling it short for how much of a singular force he was on the floor. However, the drawback to it all was that team success remained elusive as the Royals only won two playoff series during Robertson’s tenure.

Robertson’s time in Cincinnati came to an end when he was surprisingly dealt to the Milwaukee Bucks, where the then-32-year-old acted as the catalyst to help earn them a title in the 1970-71 season.

Nevertheless, many of the records Robertson set more than a half a century ago still stand to this day, creating an impossible task for any past, present and future King to come within a reasonable realm of matching as a member of the club.
