Having struggled mightily in his second year in the league, here are five goals for Jahlil Okafor of the Philadelphia 76ers in 2017-18.

Due to a variety of factors, a successful second year with the Philadelphia 76ers did not come to fruition for Jahlil Okafor. The No. 3 overall selection in 2015, Okafor showed tremendous promise in his rookie campaign, averaging 17.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in 30.0 minutes per game. Unfortunately, his debut season was cut short due to a knee injury, resulting in Okafor playing in just 53 games overall.

His followup season, however, was a big disappointment. Again he failed to finish the regular season, playing just 50 games on his way to averaging 11.8 points and 4.8 rebounds in 22.7 minutes per game. On top of the knee injury that cut short his second season, the emergence of center Joel Embiid had a significant impact on Okafor’s effectiveness as a member of the Sixers.

Such was the presence of Embiid that Okafor even experienced the dreaded Did Not Play – Coach’s Decision on multiple occasions. Considering Okafor’s lofty expectations coming out Duke, combined with his promising rookie season, this was certainly a kick in the guts for the 21-year-old.

Entering his third season in the league, Okafor is seemingly at a crossroads in terms of his future in Philadelphia. With this in mind, here are five goals Okafor should be striving toward this upcoming season.
