3. Phoenix Suns

What? The Phoenix Suns? I’ve got to be kidding, right? Wrong.

I know what you’re thinking — why would LeBron want to sign with one of the worst teams in the NBA? They’re coming off a miserable 24-58 campaign and haven’t been to the playoffs since 2010. The King wants to play for more rings and Phoenix doesn’t seem like the place to do it.

More from Hoops Habit

However, when you really think about, this Suns team isn’t that far away. Signing James would certainly escalate their rebuilding process by about 2-3 years as well. Having him on the roster would also lure more talent. It’s a domino effect that could see Phoenix emerge as one of the West’s more intriguing underdogs.

He’s not just going to sign based on the potential of turning things around, though. Instead, he’s going to sign (hypothetically) because of the presence of James Jones in the front office. His friend and former teammate recently joined the Suns brass, and has clear ties to the King. If there’s anyone who can convince LeBron to come to Arizona, it’s Jones.

Just imagine the possibilities: Eric Bledsoe, Devin Booker, Josh Jackson, James and Tyson Chandler. There are better lineups out there, but this one is far from a joke. Add in another splash signing during 2018 free agency and top pick from what looks like a loaded 2018 draft class and you’ve got a roster ready to contend.

It seems crazy, but that’s what the NBA is all about these days. Crazy has quickly become par for the course.
