2. Jump shot

Again, no one is saying that Howard has to turn into Kareem-Abdul Jabbar and develop a skyhook. But he has to work on his outside shot, because there will be times where he won’t be able to drive the lanes to the basket for that easy dunk or layup.

During the last offseason, Howard practiced his jumpers, as seen below:

Before the start of the Hawks’ 2016-17 season he had this to say:

"“It’s the mentality,” Howard said. “In my younger years, when I shot those shots I laughed and joked. I don’t think people took it serious when I did that even if I made it. If people see that I’m taking that part of my game seriously, then they’ll get used to it. I think it’s something that they’ve never really seen, especially since I’ve been playing in the NBA. It’s all about how I do it.”"

Howard ended the season with a 63 percent field goal percentage. But if he were to continue to work on his mid-range jumper, and is able to get those numbers up, he would be an invaluable asset to the Hornets next season. Because the old adage remains true – practice makes perfect.

So again, Howard must be disciplined enough to put in those extra hours taking shots until his arms fall off.
