2. Nov. 11 at Washington Wizards

The Atlanta Hawks secured a playoff berth for the 10th consecutive season — the second-longest active streak in the league behind only San Antonio — by posting a 43-39 record last year.

Atlanta held off Milwaukee for the fifth-best record in the Eastern Conference and set up a date with a Southeast Division rival, the Washington Wizards.

The Wizards managed to exploit their offensive advantage, forcing Dwight Howard to the bench for extended stretches in the series and eventually leading to his trade to Charlotte.

Rivalries are fostered in the playoffs, and with two meetings in the past three years, Atlanta and the Wizards, especially at the point guard position, have become enemies.

Dennis Schorder and John Wall battled relentlessly throughout the series, but Washington ultimately prevailed. In six games, Schorder showcased his talents, averaging 24.7 points, 7.7 assists and just 1.7 turnovers per game, even though he played over 35 minutes a night.

Schroder proved himself capable of carrying the team throughout the series and will look to impress during a regular season battle against Wall.
