3. March 2 vs. Golden State Warriors

Every team relishes an opportunity to host the defending champions. For the Atlanta Hawks, it’s an opportunity to give rookie John Collins a crash course at the NBA level.

The 19th overall pick of the 2017 NBA Draft played impressively in his professional debut, averaging 19.2 points, 9.8 rebounds, 1.6 blocks and emerged as perhaps the most exciting player at the NBA Summer League tournament in Las Vegas.

For his efforts, the power forward earned a place on the All-Summer League First Team.

Collins became an internet sensation with his ability to elevate above the rim, but replicating his success against true NBA competition, especially the defending champions, will be a proper way to assess his talents.

Golden State swept its season series against the Hawks last season, but the team has been able to routinely pull off upset victories under head coach Mike Budenholzer.
