Atlanta Hawks: 5 most compelling games of the 2017-18 season
5. Oct. 27 vs. Denver Nuggets
Just five games into his tenure with Denver, Paul Millsap will return to face the Atlanta Hawks, the team that snubbed him this summer.
After securing four consecutive selections to the Eastern Conference All-Star team, one for each season during his time in Atlanta, new general manager Travis Schlenk allowed Millsap to sign a three-year, $90 million deal without even receiving an offer from the Hawks.
Millsap was easily the most productive player on the Hawks roster a season ago, as he posted 18.1 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.3 steals per game.
The 6’9″ forward ranked first or second on the team in several categories, including points, rebounds, assists, blocks, steals, free throws made and field goals made. The 75 conversions from 3-point range from Millsap ranked as the fourth-most on the team.
Welcoming former key contributors has been a staple of the Hawks lately, as the team has applauded the returns of Al Horford, Kyle Korver, DeMarre Carroll and Jeff Teague over the past two seasons.
Expect Millsap to garner the most praise in his first game against the Hawks.
