Power Forward: Shawn Kemp

Starting at power forward in the Thunder/SuperSonics’ all-time starting lineup is Shawn Kemp. He is not someone that many casual fans will remember, but if he played in today’s lineup he would be a favorite among the social media world.

Kemp was freakishly athletic. Combined with his huge 6’10”, 230-pound frame, it was even more impressive to see. Kemp murdered rims and was a highlight machine. He would thrive in today’s free-flowing style of play, especially in the open court.

While Kemp was known for his thunderous dunks, he was a great player in other facets of the game as well. Kemp was a very good rebounder, averaging 8.4 rebounds per game in his career and 9.6 per game with the SuperSonics. The six times that he averaged double-digit rebounds in a season all came with Seattle.

In addition to the great work done on the boards, Kemp was also a great defender. He averaged 1.1 steals and 1.2 blocks per game in his career, and those numbers jumped to 1.2 steals and 1.5 blocks in eight seasons with the SuperSonics. He is one of the best scorers, rebounders and defenders in franchise history, ranking in the top seven of points, rebounds, steals and blocks.

Kemp made five All-Star games with the SuperSonics. He also finished on the All-NBA Second time three times in his career with the SuperSonics.
