1. Brooklyn Nets

HOME – FRIDAY OCT. 27 7:30PM EST

The Brooklyn Nets are atop this list for one reason that is often overlooked in regards to their long-standing rivalry with the Knicks. The battle for pride in the city is still a big deal for the Nets organization regardless of where they play in the tri-state area. The Nets have statistically had more winning seasons the past 15 years in comparison to the Knicks, but still haven’t won over the city’s fans.

The Nets recently added former lottery pick D’Angelo Russell via trade with the Los Angeles Lakers refocusing the team’s young rebuilding efforts. Russell will be joined by former Knicks one-season legend Jeremy Lin in the back court forming a talented tandem when healthy. As both teams rebuild it will be interesting to witness this first meeting in the season which the team is actually on schedule with their development.

The games last season were intense considering both teams were not in playoff contention for most of the year. The Knicks learned about winning without Anthony during their matchup in February as he sat the fourth quarter in favor of young center Willy Hernagomez leading the comeback charge in a shocking road victory.
