New York Knicks: 5 most intriguing games of the 2017-18 season
3. Cleveland Cavaliers
HOME – MONDAY NOV. 13 7:30PM EST
The continued discussions surrounding Carmelo Anthony’s future and uncertainty surrounding Kyrie Irving have continued to dominate the offseason news. Irving has informed the league of his hopeful trade destinations and the Knicks were a high candidate. The New Jersey native, however, may never get his wish assuming Anthony doesn’t choose to waive his no trade clause to accommodate such a move.
Assuming a deal does get done between both teams, it’s almost perfect theater to have Anthony in a Cavaliers uniform ready to destroy his old team in New York. The uncertainty surrounding Anthony’s reaction from the crowd is must-see entertainment without even having to mention the returning Derrick Rose. LeBron James has kept it no secret that he isn’t a fan of the Knicks organization and any chance to embarrass them is just perfect in his book, especially since last season he had more fun with a water bottle.
A battle with the defending Eastern Conference champions always brings excitement, but add in the possibility of Anthony and Irving trading places and you’re bound to get an unforgettable game. It’s almost as if the NBA wants this matchup to have the perfect bitter sizzle to start off the season hot in November.
