Charlotte Hornets: How will the Charlotte Hornets match up against the Boston Celtics?
Season opener will not determine the season
Although the Hornets missed the playoffs last season, they now have their man in the middle Dwight Howard, who can beat almost anyone off the glass.
The Celtics are a more physical team. And because Celtics’ President Danny Ainge has reverted back to the days when he played, Boston now plays positionless basketball. So the Hornets must play a very strong defensive game inside and outside the paint, keeping turnovers to a minimum.
The Hornets must protect the ball, and grab rebounds on both ends of the court. While Walker must transform into a pass-first point guard, and get his entire team more involved in the offense.
However, the Celtics led the East last season and made it to the Eastern Conference Finals, so they’re out for blood this season, and will want to start the season strong.
Nonetheless, I believe that the Celtics got much weaker defensively when they traded away one of their best defenders in the league, Avery Bradley. But the Celtics have too many weapons at their disposal, including a deep bench, and are stronger offensively.
Advantage Celtics for the Hornets’ first pre-season game. Yet, having to play one of the best teams in the East for their game, is actually a good thing for the Hornets, because it will allow the Charlotte to see where the holes are in their game, allowing the Hornets to perfect their game.
If Charlotte can go into Boston with a defensive mindset, I believe that the Hornets will put up a very good fight. And from that point on, I believe the Hornets will get stronger throughout the year, and finish the season strong.

The most important thing for Charlotte is to use this exhibition game to not only play their best, but also to learn from their weaknesses, for when these two teams meet again. And by that time, advantage Charlotte.
