No.4 Fitting into the Knicks needs

When Phil Jackson exited the building, the often criticized triangle offense went along with him. With that being said, it’s been stated multiple times from Steve Mills and Jeff Hornacek that the focus will be on defense and developing the young talent on their roster.

Damyean Dotson has more than just offensive upside as he develops to the speed of the NBA.

What the Knicks need is exactly what Damyean Dotson brings to the table. He is a two-way guard that can also play at the 3 at times for defensive purposes. His hustle on both ends of the court makes him an asset at his position and it becomes clear looking at his stats from Oregon University.

He improved his ability to grab boards from 3.5 and 3.2 total rebounds per game his freshman and sophomore year, to 6.8 and 6.9 total rebounds per game his junior and senior year.

Of his 222 total rebounds during his senior year, 49 came on the offensive end giving his team that many more opportunities against opponents.

For the Knicks to be more than just competitive in an ever-growing division, they will need to see this kind of effort from Dotson every minute he is able to see the court.
