40 Like Nothing

A few months before LaVine’s ACL tear, he was tearing things up on the court.

Take his 40-point performance against the Sacramento Kings, for example.

On December 23, the guard hand-delivered one heck of an early Christmas present to Timberwolves fans. He dropped 40 points in 39 minutes, shooting 61.9 percent from the field and 58.3 percent from downtown. LaVine was also a perfect 7-of-7 from the line.

In addition to scoring 40 though, he also rallied six rebounds and dished out two assists. LaVine grabbed a steal too, highlighting his effectiveness on both ends of the floor.

Sure, Minnesota fell short 109-105. And yes, No. 8 was hit with five personal fouls. But LaVine’s surge proved the lights-out shooter had not yet reached his ceiling, despite earlier in the season having scored 37 points.

LaVine was doing a little bit of everything, too.

From high-flying dunks to mid-range jumpers to quick-drive layups to far-out three’s… the 22-year-old was showing off quite an offensive arsenal.

40 points? Easy breezy for this guard.
