With the Chicago Bulls recently acquiring former Minnesota Timberwolves guard Zach LaVine, it is time to look back at some of his best 2016-17 moments.

June 22, 2017, marked the end of the Jimmy Butler era for the Chicago Bulls. A sad day for many fans, but not without a silver lining.

Although the organization had been supposedly pushing for “younger and more athletic” for some time now, it was not until they acquired both Kris Dunn and Zach LaVine in the trade for Butler, that the youth movement really began.

At 23 and 22 respectively, the two former Minnesota Timberwolves bring some much needed fresh legs to the team.

More from Hoops Habit

Especially LaVine, who only three years into his professional career, has already made quite an impression on the league.

Drafted by the Timberwolves in 2014 as the No. 13 overall pick, the guard spent just one year at the University of California Los Angeles. There, he averaged 9.4 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists a game in 24.4 minutes. But despite having only played one year of college ball, it was clear LaVine had NBA-level talent.

And he went to work, fast.

The Washington-native averaged 10.1 points, 2.8 rebounds and 3.6 assists a contest as a rookie, earning him a spot on the All-Rookie Second-Team. He also won the 2016 NBA Slam Dunk Contest, becoming the youngest champion since 18-year-old Kobe Bryant back in 1997.

Fast-forward to the 2016-17 season, and LaVine showed tremendous growth.

Having averaged 18.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.0 per matchup, the young fella became a standout in Minnesota. Unfortunately, he was ruled out for the year on February 4 with a torn ACL, but still showed out in the 47 games he was able to play in.

So what were some of LaVine’s best moments from last season?
