Triple-double honorable mentions

Although Butler has improved his game in each of the last five seasons, he reached an impressive milestone in 2016-17. That milestone includes recording triple-doubles on two separate occasions.

The first occurrence took place on Feb. 25 in a road game against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

In that contest, Butler’s final stat line included 18 points on 7-for-19 shooting, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in 39 minutes. Behind a strong second-half effort in which they limited the Cavs to 43 points, the Bulls came away with an impressive 117-99 victory.

Butler’s second triple-double came against the Philadelphia 76ers back in early April.  As was the case in the outing against the Cavs, Butler didn’t have a great shooting night, converting five of his 12 attempts.

While Butler did not shoot the ball with great efficiency, these moments warrant mentioning simply because it was the first time he achieved such a notable feat in his career.
