1. Stay healthy

Confidence is key, but let’s be real, what Giles needs most is no more health scares. Another injury might swing him on a downward spiral heading out of the league by the end of his rookie contract. No one wants to see that.

The positive side for Giles is he now has access to NBA trainers and advanced sports technology. Giles’ injuries and health can be studied to help create exercise and strengthening plans. They can target his deficiencies better than if he were in college this year. It could potentially lengthen his NBA career.

In addition to adding years onto his NBA future, this is probably Giles’ best bet to getting closer to the player he was in high school. Not that exact player, but much more so than how he plays now. A full year of avoiding a major injury will do wonders for his psyche.

And who knows, crazier things have happened. Who is to stay after two years of NBA development and good health, Giles doesn’t start tapping back into his potential? He had a strong face-up game with the ability to shoot in high school. Those skills make Giles a whole different animal and a more highly regarded prospect. Health is the key for his confidence and his future.
