Oklahoma City Thunder: 3 standouts from Orlando Summer League
Daniel Hamilton
Hamilton is another young player that the Thunder are grooming to hopefully join their NBA team at some point. Hamilton was a second round selection of the Denver Nuggets in the 2016 NBA Draft. He was selected with the 26th pick in the second round, No. 56 overall, and traded to the Thunder.
Hamilton showcased a diverse skill set while in college at Connecticut. He could score the ball, rebounded very well for a shooting guard, and was a capable playmaker. In two seasons with the Huskies, Hamilton averaged 11.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.0 steals per game.
Those are strong numbers, but one problem for Hamilton was efficiency. He shot only 38.4 percent from the field and 33.7 percent from the three-point line. Efficiency is the only thing holding him back; his performance in the Summer League this year was much of the same.
Hamilton stuffed the stat sheet in Orlando. He averaged 11.8 points, 6.8 assists and 5.3 rebounds per game. Unfortunately, the inefficient shooting plagued him once again. He made only 30.6 percent of his shots and 16.7 percent of his shots from deep.
Until he gets more efficient in scoring, his ceiling will be limited. However, he has shown an ability to be more efficient, as he shot 42.6 percent from the field and 37.4 percent from deep in the G-League last year.
