1. Kris Humphries

Could a Kris Humphries – Brooklyn Nets reunion be on the horizon? Earlier in May, I detailed why I think Humphries could be an interesting fit for the Nets, and still today, I believe that to be the case:

"“The Nets have been pretty terrible creating second chance opportunities, ranking 26th in the league this season is offensive rebounds per game (8.8). Sure, the backslap, volleyball style of Tyson Chandler is still being used by some bigs with incredible wingspans, but the value for a true bruiser on the boards is still needed in the game. “So, it may be time for the Nets to take a chance on Kris Humphries. The 32-year-old big man from Minneapolis didn’t have a stellar season by any means, only averaging 4.6 points, 3.7 rebounds in just over 12 minutes per game, but he’s still known to be a big-body down low that can pull up from 15 feet, and provide hard screens on the perimeter. “Remember too, that Humphries had a career high in points and rebounds (13.8 points and 11 rebounds) per game back with the Nets in 2011-12. “Humphries will be relatively cheap, as he signed a one-year, $4 million deal with the Atlanta Hawks just last offseason, staying with the team after the 2015-16 campaign.”"

Humphries still remains on the market, providing a big-body, rebounding-focused mentality — something the Nets are in need of after spacing the floor with Allen Crabbe, D’Angelo Russell, DeMarre Carroll and Jeremy Lin. Humphries has also shown a willingness to take the three, stroking it at 35.2 percent on 54 attempts last season.

There’s definitely a possibility in this Nets pace-and-space offense for a guy like Humphries. He still runs the floor relatively well and knows his role (he’s not creating shots off-the-dribble or isolating in the post). He’ll be a prototypical bruiser with some mini-upside of knocking down a corner three.

With a plethora of options out there, the Nets could make their first free agent singing of the summer, bringing in a big-man to do some dirty work, and provide some upside in a development-focused Atkinson-run team.
