2. Free Throw Attempts

During the 2016-17 NBA season, Kelly Oubre Jr. averaged 1.3 free throw attempts per game. Last year, that number was the eighth-lowest amongst all Washington Wizards players. Even Otto Porter Jr., who is mainly a catch-and-shoot player, managed to get to the line more.

The most shocking part about his low free attempt rate is that Kelly Oubre Jr. takes 60.5 percent of his shots within the restricted area. Most of his shots are in a prime location to draw contact. Oubre had 41 dunks last year and 50 layups, and still only managed to get to the line 1.3 times per game.

We see many star players like DeMar DeRozan, James Harden and Carmelo Anthony use free throw attempts to score consistently in games. They use it as sure thing buckets and a super effective way to contribute to the team. For an explosive, athletic player like Kelly Oubre Jr., drawing contact should be the primary focus on this offseason, because if he can draw contact frequently, he could contribute offensively.
