3. How big of a role will Rose have with the Cavs next season?

Rose has drawn interest from multiple teams during the offseason. At the end of the day, though, it came down to just two teams: The Los Angeles Lakers and the Cavaliers.

The Lakers met with Rose on the idea of him serving as a mentor to their top draft pick — Lonzo Ball. Although the Lakers could offer Rose more money, they were unable to sell him on playing for the team in a reserve role.

Make no mistake; Irving’s desire to go elsewhere will be in the headlines for the foreseeable future. However, because he has two years left on his current deal, the Cavs don’t necessarily have to be in a rush to trade him.

Taking that into consideration, how much playing time will Rose be given if in fact Irving is still on the roster when next season starts? If that is the case, it is quite possible Rose turned down more money from the Lakers for a similar role with the Cavs.

It will be interesting to see how this story plays out as the start of the season approaches.
