Washington Wizards: Top 10 players since the year 2000
By Randy Porga
The Washington Wizards recently had their most successful season in four decades. Lets review the top 10 players that have brought the Wizards franchise to where it is today.
Only in the past couple years have the Washington Wizards become a relevant threat in the Eastern Conference. Before becoming the Wizards, they were much more successful as a franchise on a grand scale, the Washington Bullets.
The Washington Bullets appeared in four NBA Finals, and won during the 1978 season. During November of 1995, owner Abe Pollin decided it was time the team changed its name. On May 15, 1997, the team officially became the Washington Wizards.
The franchise currently holds a record of 586-792 dating back to the 2000-01 regular season.
However, it’s not as bad as it all sounds. The Wizards currently have some of the league’s most exciting and skilled players to watch on their roster. They also have head coach Scott Brooks, who is no stranger to a winning culture.
It seems the Wizards have a bigger picture installed into their organization from the top down.
Before looking toward the 2017-18 regular season, lets take a in-depth look at the best 10 players that brought success to the Wizards over the past 17 years.
