1. Provide hustle and chemistry

Jarrett Allen’s hustle and motor on offense may sometimes make up for what he lacks in some defensive areas. His potential to spread the court and sprint on fastbreaks is a big plus, especially for his size.

While his overall motor through the course of the game remains a question mark, he was averaging 32.2 minutes per game for the Texas Longhorns. In fact, that mark led the team in playing time, which is a plus overall because of his durability.

Currently he is only one of two listed centers on a Nets roster chock-full of wings. It’s not out of the realm of possibility to see Allen find himself in the ballpark of 20 minutes per game off the bench.

The Brooklyn Nets are young and essentially rebuilding one position at a time. The backcourt has plenty of talent, while the frontcourt definitely has taken a step back after trading the versatile Brook Lopez. Those are big shoes for Jarrett Allen to fill as a rookie.

Instead, he should look to steadily build his all-around game and get to know the Brooklyn culture, and hopefully not just the awful losing aspect as of late.
