Brandon Knight, PG, Phoenix Suns

Word has it the Suns have had discussions about dealing one of their many guards. In fact, they even talked with the New York Knicks, who have been desperately searching for a veteran point guard, about a deal involving Brandon Knight.

As it turns out, Knight wasn’t exactly what New York had in mind. They were hoping for Eric Bledsoe instead, but were met with heavy resistance from the Suns, according to Arizona Sports 98.7’s John Gambadoro:

Despite the Knicks’ eventual disinterest, don’t be surprised to see Phoenix searching far and wide for other takers. Knight boasts one of the worst contracts in the NBA, which is part of why the Suns are hoping to unload him and $44 million over the next three years. The fact that they already have a strong, relatively deep backcourt doesn’t help either.

Another part of the equation is the fact that the point guard market has essentially dried up. There are still a few notable names out there, but that doesn’t mean every team is interested in what’s available. If someone gets desperate for an experienced option, Knight could pique someone’s interest.

It’s a long shot, but the Suns will be crossing their fingers that someone comes calling for Knight. Either way, he’s on the block and available for anyone willing to take on his contract.
