2017 NBA Summer League: 5 biggest disappointments
By Max Holm
3. Jaylen Brown — Boston Celtics
Akin to Bender and Chriss, Jaylen Brown didn’t light up Summer League like many expected. Brown balled out against the Philadelphia 76ers in Utah, but that would prove to be perhaps his only good showing.
Despite having a more positive rookie year than either of the Suns’ rookies, Brown was back in Summer League and not doing much to show he’s a better player. Much of his red flags from before and after his rookie season were very apparent.
Brown looks to continue improving as a shooter, but the rest of his offensive skills is lacking. He has very little feel for the game. His defensive ability and effort are really his only calling cards at this point.
After an awful second game in Utah, Brown was even more underwhelming in Las Vegas. Averaging over one steal and block per game is nice, but his 10.3 points per game on 30.3 percent shooting is not. Brown still has a very long way to go to become more than a half-decent role player for the Celtics.
