5. Diminutive point guard had a fun showing

Coming into Summer League, not many — apart from true college basketball aficionados — had ever heard of Justin Robinson. However, thanks to his superb play in the Sin City, that has most certainly changed by now.

Over the span of five games in the Las Vegas Summer League, the 5’8″ point guard averaged 12.6 points, 3.2 assists and 1.9 steals per contest, in just about 22.4 minutes of action.

He didn’t shoot the ball particularly well as he went just 22-of-54 (40.7 percent) from the field, but nevertheless, watching this (by comparison to other NBA prospects) tiny person dart around and make plays was a sight to behold.

Robinson spent his four-year college career at Monmouth, earning MAAC Player of the Year honors in each of his last two campaigns. In his final season of eligibility, the floor general scored 19.7 points per game, to go with 4.8 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 1.4 steals.

More pertinent to his chances as a professional, though, was the fact that he shot 40.3 percent from three-point range and 85.6 percent from the charity stripe as a senior.

If his jumper — which had serious range on it in college — can translate to the professional level, he may have a chance to eke out a career as an explosive scorer off the bench.

Unfortunately, the odds are stacked against him. Thus, we should take his performance for what it was: a fun flash of solid point guard play. Chances are, we won’t be seeing him in a Heat uniform anytime soon.
