Los Angeles Lakers: 5 goals for Lonzo Ball’s rookie season
By Evan Massey
4. 20 points per game too much?
Needless to say, Lonzo Ball is going to be asked to shoulder a large portion of the offensive workload this season. Even though he is a rookie, there is no denying his scoring ability.
Setting a goal at 20 points per game is reasonable for a player with the talent that Ball possesses.
After being unable to bring in Paul George via trade, Ball might already be the best scorer that they have on the roster. Clarkson can score decently well, but is nothing close to a No. 1 scoring option. Randle has shown the ability to score as well, but not at an elite level.
Ball will be given the opportunity to score big as a rookie and he should be expected to do so. He will have to improve on his 16.3 points per game on 38.2 percent shooting that he posted in Summer League, but it’s not impossible now that he’s got his feet wet.
