4. DeAndre’ Bembry is ready to step into a larger role off the bench

The other small forward on the roster for the 2017-18 season submitted the most complete performance for the Atlanta Hawks in the Summer League tournament.

The 6’6″ forward managed to contribute on both ends of the floor, leading Atlanta in scoring, assists and steals.

Bembry posted 17 points per game on 56.5 percent shooting from the field, along with 3.3 assists and 2.8 steals per game.

He often managed to turn his exceptional defensive efforts into easy scoring opportunities for himself.

Most importantly, Bembry appeared to play at a level above the rest of the competition — exactly what the Hawks were expecting from the 21st overall pick of the 2016 NBA Draft.

Atlanta’s rotation for the upcoming season is far from settled, and with only one other true small forward on the roster, Bembry has used the tournament as an opportunity to earn consistent minutes next year.
