2. Reliable shooting

Living up to being named the “best shooting guard” in the 2017 NBA Draft might cause some young players to feel a little pressure. It’s common for rookies to look less than stellar when they hit the court for the first few times during the NBA Summer League.

Luke Kennard did not have those issues. He picked up right where he left off when he left Duke, launching three-pointers and taking the game into his hands when necessary.

Twice during Summer League play, the Pistons put the ball in Kennard’s capable hands with the game on the line. Both times he delivered. In the first test, his last second shot from behind the arc gave the Pistons a 73-71 double-overtime win.

Then he dropped 24 points in the Summer League championship game. He shot 46.5 percent from the field in Orlando and made 11 of his 23 three-point attempts (47.8 percent).

If Kennard continues to improve and provide reliable shooting, he will become a significant part of the Pistons’ rotation.
