Detroit Pistons: 5 goals for Luke Kennard’s rookie season
4. Improve mobility, strength and speed
Bulking up on weights and filling out his frame a bit could have a positive impact on Kennard’s game. Adding muscle could benefit him when posting up against opposing teams on the block.
There are drills he can incorporate into his offseason training that will help him build strength and mobility. The NBA moves quicker than the NCAA. While he is developing and improving his defensive skills, Kennard’s high basketball IQ will help give him an edge and add another dimension to his game.
Kennard is very adept at controlling the ball. His turnover ratio is one of the lowest among first round picks in this year’s draft. He can see the court and create plays for himself and others on his team. He uses his basketball IQ to compensate for his lack of mobility and speed.
But if he can get stronger and work on his quickness, he’ll be an even more effective player at the next level.
