A focus on the future has turned the Los Angeles Lakers’ 2017 free agency into a snoozer. While that may be the case, it wouldn’t be surprising if one of these three ended up in purple and gold in 2017-18.

The Los Angeles Lakers‘ free agency period has been like riding a kiddie roller coaster. No matter how long you wait, it’s never going to go any faster or get any more exciting. I guess that’s what happens when the team is in a holding pattern until next offseason.

That doesn’t mean we can’t speculate on some players they could be eyeing as the market begins to dry up. Just about every top talent besides Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has inked a new deal, leaving nothing to sift through beyond unproven/underwhelming players and aging veterans. That’s realistically what you can expect through 11 days of free agency, though.

Still, I’m holding out hope the Lakers make a deal at some point in the coming days. There are still some solid ballers to be had out there. Magic Johnson and co. just need to be willing to spend some money to get the job done. Then again, I’m not sure that’s the main issue here.

Instead, I think it’s the fact that players don’t want to sign the one-year deals the Lakers are likely pitching. With the main objective being saving cap space until next offseason, rumor has it that’s all Los Angeles is willing to offer free agents. If that’s the case, it’s no wonder they’ve failed to get anyone to put pen to paper.

Either way, it’s been a dull free agency for the Lakers. Despite that, I believe the three following players are realistic options for Los Angeles as the pool is slowly drained. They wouldn’t be splash signings by any means, but they may have enough to help this team in 2017-18.
