The Indiana Pacers went into 2017 NBA Summer League action hoping to see improvement from some of their current players, and perhaps find a diamond in the rough among the free agent participants.
This year’s Summer :eague had some added importance for the Blue and Gold, since the roster is changing at a rapid rate and the team is trying to find its footing going into the 2017-18 season.
Two of the team’s best players — Paul George and Jeff Teague — are now gone.
This has opened up some potential opportunities for playing time for several returning members of the club.
One summer league standout who did not make our list was power forward/center Jarnell Stokes. Stokes was a solid and consistent performer in Orlando, averaging 13.2 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.
The problem for Stokes is that the Pacers already have a logjam in the frontcourt, so the odds that he can win a regular season roster spot in Indiana are extremely low.
