The Brooklyn Nets, once again, acquire some future assets in a salary dump for former Toronto Raptors small forward DeMarre Carroll. Now it’s time to understand the good, the bad and the ugly that comes with the soon-to-be 31-year-old veteran.

While it’s not official, the Brooklyn Nets will acquire small forward DeMarre Carroll, a 2018 lottery-protected first round pick, and a second round pick from the Toronto Raptors in exchange for stretch center Justin Hamilton. Hamilton, once traded to the Raptors, will be waived, per ESPN‘s Brian Windhorst.

The trade, once again, shows the calculated and strategic thinking by Brooklyn Nets general manager Sean Marks, who continues to acquire assets as part of his “talent-acquisition” goal for the summer.

Carroll, who signed a four-year, $60 million deal with the Raptors back in the summer of 2015, will be entering the final two years on his deal with the Brooklyn Nets and reuniting with his former assistant coach, now head coach Kenny Atkinson.

Now, after the Nets are relieved of the current $24+ million cap hold once the Wizards officially match Otto Porter Jr.’s max offer sheet, it’s time to break down the good, the bad, and the ugly from the 30-year-old gritty small forward.
