The Los Angeles Lakers are doing their best to avoid spending during 2017 NBA free agency. Inking these three players would add capable talent without the hefty price tag.

When 2017 NBA free agency tipped off, it was safe to assume we wouldn’t hear much from the Los Angeles Lakers. With a plan to save their spending for next offseason, it seemed unlikely for them to sign anyone to anything other than cheap, one-year contracts.

That’s essentially been the case up to this point. The Lakers allegedly dipped their toes in the water, touching base with players like George Hill, Andre Iguodala and Dion Waiters. However, with most of the big names now off the market, it’s time to turn our attention to the guys who are more logical options for Los Angeles.

By that, I mean the players who aren’t going to cost much to get under contract. It’ll also help if those players are willing to accept short deals so as to avoid committing cap space past this season.

The Lakers have a plan for next offseason — spend big on superstars like Paul George and LeBron James. Avoiding investing heavily in talent in 2017 will help them achieve that. As luck would have it, there are some bargain bin players still out wading around the free agency pool.

So here they are: three bargain bin free agents the Lakers could still sign in 2017. They’re not going to turn this team into a contender, but they’d keep with Magic Johnson’s gameplan of keeping spending to a minimum.
