Justin Holiday: 2 years, $9 million (Chicago Bulls)

Even after ousting Rajon Rondo, the Chicago Bulls already have Kris Dunn, Jerian Grant, Cameron Payne, Zach LaVine, Denzel Valentine and Dwayne Wade in the backcourt. Why not throw Justin Holiday into the mix?

Getting Holiday at two years and $9 million certainly isn’t bad value. The older brother of Jrue Holiday averaged a career-high 7.7 points and 2.7 rebounds per game last season with the New York Knicks, shooting 43.3 percent from the field and 35.5 percent from downtown. He also works on the defensive end of the floor.

But in an already crowded backcourt rotation, Holiday makes very little sense. He’s 28 years old and has neither the established talent (Wade) nor the upside (everyone else) of the other guards on the roster.
