Dirk Nowitzki: 2 years, $10 million (Mavericks)

No surprises here, but after declining Dirk Nowitzki’s $25 million team option to free up some cap space, the Dallas Mavericks will be keeping him in Big D for the remainder of his NBA career, agreeing on a two-year, $10 million deal that represents an incredibly team-friendly discount.

With Nerlens Noel’s restricted free agency remaining, the Mavs have roughly $11 million in cap space. That’s not enough to pursue a top-tier free agent, but hardly any are remaining anyway. Seeing as how they didn’t give the Dunking Deutschman more of that remaining cap space, Dallas must have some plan for it to round out the roster.

In any case, the Mavs are in great position to re-sign Noel and perhaps bring in another rotation player or two thanks to Nowitzki’s team-first mentality. Meanwhile, Dirk gets to finish his career as a Mav for life and the greatest player in franchise history.
