2017 NBA free agency tracker: Grades for every deal so far
Ersan Ilyasova: 1 year, $6 million (Atlanta Hawks)
With $15.5 million remaining in cap space, the free agency pool drying up and the Atlanta Hawks clearly veering toward a full-scale rebuild/tank job, the rest of the summer has become all about finding able bodies to fill out the roster.
To that end, re-signing a veteran journeyman like Ersan Ilyasova to a one-year deal sounds about right. Last season he played for three different teams, but revitalized his value in his first 53 games with the Philadelphia 76ers, averaging 14.8 points and 5.9 rebounds per game for a surprisingly fun team.
The Hawks will be hoping something similar happens to distract from their incoming tank job, or at least for something better than the 4.0 points and 5.2 rebounds per game on .348/.200/.778 shooting splits Ilyasova posted with the team during its first round playoff series. With some extra depth for John Collins at the 4, Atlanta has a low-cost alternative if the rook is not ready to start yet.
