The Golden State Warriors are adding veteran sharpshooter Nick Young on a one-year deal.

The rich get richer as Nick Young and the Golden State Warriors have agreed to a deal.

According to ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Warriors have agreed to a one-year, $5.2 million deal with the 6’7″ shooting guard.

At 31 years old, Young apparently preferred the chance to win an NBA championship over a little extra financial security. It was previously reported by Darren Wolfson of 5 Eyewitness News in Minneapolis and St. Paul that the Minnesota Timberwolves had offered him a two-year contract.

Swaggy P is coming off a season that saw him shoot 40 percent from downtown for the third time in his 10-year career. That outside shooting is speculatively what drew the Warriors’ eye in the first place.

“Bean Burrito” isn’t known for his defense or playmaking abilities and that’s okay. On this Warriors squad, he will mostly be asked to spread the floor and knock down the open threes he’ll inevitably get.

With playmakers like Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and Draymond Green, Young should feast on outside shots.

Last season, the USC product was deadly on catch-and-shoot three-point opportunities, knocking down 44.2 percent on 4.7 attempts per game. That was the eighth-best mark in the league by any player who attempted at least three outside shots a game, just ahead of his new teammate Klay Thompson.

Young’s 6.5 catch-and-shoot points per game also ranked 15th in the NBA last season.

Swaggy P is the most deadly from the corners, where he is a career 41.2 percent three-point shooter. This will be extremely helpful for the Warriors, because it will force the defense to cover every inch of the floor (as if opposing teams weren’t already forced to do so).

The shooting guard may get a bit overzealous with his shot selection from time-to-time, but he can get hot at any moment:

Although Young excels on catch-and-shoot opportunities, his pull-up game can be a weapon as well. Even though he’s a far worse shooter off the dribble, defenses can’t give him too much space as he shot 33.6 percent on pull-up threes last year.
