Philadelphia 76ers: 4 signs that ‘Trusting the Process’ is paying off

4. Veteran signings
While they didn’t come cheaply, attracting Redick and Johnson to the City of Brotherly Love is a real credit to the organization and how far it’s come.
Redick, who has agreed to a one-year, $23 million deal, is fresh off playing for a Los Angeles Clippers team hat had just completed its fifth consecutive 50-plus win season. Johnson, who has agreed to a one-year, $11 million contract, is just removed from competing in the Eastern Conference Finals with the Boston Celtics.
Therefore, it’s a credit to the franchise that veterans who are coming from winning situations are viewing the Sixers as a legitimate landing spot in the latter stages of their career.
The slogan “Trust the Process” taken off around the league, so much so that Redick took to Twitter shortly after his agreement with the Sixers to simply post:
That in itself is a glowing endorsement of what has been developing in Philadelphia. While many will understandably point to the financial remuneration that he is receiving, at the same time, there’s no chance Redick even considers the Sixers if he doesn’t believe in Trusting the Process.
For his part, Johnson joins Redick in forming a pair of free agents with impeccable reputations on and off the floor. Media personality and Celtics fan, Bill Simmons, tweeted the following after Johnson’s signing:
While Simmons referred to some concern over his body, Johnson is certainly not being recruited to play heavy minutes. With Joel Embiid, Joel Okafor and Richaun Holmes already in the rotation, Johnson’s most valuable contributions are going to come off the court.
