The Charlotte Hornets agreed to a one-year deal with Michael Carter-Williams yesterday. What are some pros and cons MCW will bring with him to the Queen City?

On Saturdayday, ESPN‘s Jeff Goodman announced that the Charlotte Hornets had agreed to a deal with point guard Michael Carter-Williams.

The terms of the deal were for one year and $2.7 million. Carter-Williams became an unrestricted free agent when the Chicago Bulls declined to extend him to a qualifying offer. There were a few teams reportedly interested in the 6’6″ point guard, but Charlotte seemed to win the battle and will fill its backup point guard vacancy.

Carter-Williams won the 2013-14 Rookie of the Year Award after averaging 16.7 points, 6.3 assists, and 6.2 rebounds per game with the Philadelphia 76ers. Since then, he has been traded twice in two years playing for the Milwaukee Bucks and the Bulls.

He experienced his worst season numbers-wise this past season, only putting up 6.6 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists in a limited 18.8 minutes per game. Between dealing with knee issues that limited him to 45 games played for the 2016-17 season and battling for legitimate minutes, Carter-Williams was never able to establish himself in Chicago.

So why would the Hornets want him?

Let’s take a look at some pros and cons that come with the Syracuse product.
