Houston Rockets: 5 potential free agency targets in 2017
P.J. Tucker
Our final target for the Rockets is another Raptor, P.J. Tucker. Tucker would provide depth in the frontcourt, with the ability to play both small forward and power forward in smaller lineups.
UPDATE: The Rockets have indeed signed P.J. Tucker to a four-year, $32 million deal, as reported by Shams Charania.
Tucker is a very good defender, posting a 1.6 defensive box plus-minus last season and 2.2 defensive win shares. And while Tucker is a below average three-point shooter for his career, he shot 35.7 percent from beyond the arc in the 2016-17 season, including 40 percent in the second half of the season with the Raptors.
Tucker provides the Rockets with an elite perimeter defender, one of Houston’s biggest needs. Tucker can guard nearly every position, making him a valuable and versatile defender.

The Rockets have added Tucker’s valuable defense and can now pair him with other good defenders already on the roster in Paul, Trevor Ariza, and Clint Capela. A very important signing for Houston.
