3. Paul Millsap

Paul Millsap has been a very talented player in the NBA for years. He is a battle-tested veteran, and teams know exactly what they will get out of him every night. He is a versatile power forward that can score from the outside and in the paint, and he can rebound, pass and defend.

The good news is that Millsap’s offensive versatility should allow him to thrive on almost every NBA team. The bad news is that he probably has another good year before his production starts to decline.

Last season, at 31 years old, Millsap averaged career highs in points and assists. Obviously he had more offensive responsibilities in Atlanta after the departures of Jeff Teague and Al Horford. His increased offensive load may have come at the expense of his defense, because his averages for rebounds, steals and blocks declined from the 2015-16 season.

Boston should only sign Millsap if they feel that he can push them pass Cleveland next season, which doesn’t appear to be the case. Now at 32 years old, Millsap is going to be looking for his last chance at a huge payday. Three years from now, signing him to a massive contract is going to look like a mistake. He should only be considered by Boston if they can’t sign their other top two targets.
