Truck Robinson was a second round pick (22nd overall) by the Washington Bullets in the 1974 NBA Draft out of Tennessee State University.

More from Hoops Habit

He was traded on January 20 during the 1976-77 regular season — along with a 1978 first round pick — to the Atlanta Hawks for Tom Henderson and the Hawks’ 1978 first round pick. Henderson was a guard out of University of Hawaii, averaging 11.3 points, 8.4 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game with the Hawks at the time.

Robinson went on to sign with the New Orleans Jazz as a free agent in the 1977 offseason. He averaged 22.7 points, 15.7 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.0 blocks per game during the 1977-78 season. He was an All-Star selection and earned All-NBA First Team honors as well.

After leading the league in rebounds (1,288) during the 1977-78 season, Truck Robinson was traded to the Phoenix Suns for Marty Byrnes, Ron Lee, a 1979 first round draft pick and a 1980 first round draft pick.

Robinson spent the final three seasons of his career with the Knicks (1982-85). His biggest accomplishment with the franchise was the night he grabbed a career-high 23 rebounds on April 5, 1983 against the Detroit Pistons.
