One of the most prolific scorers the Atlanta Hawks ever selected came with the seventh pick of the second round in the 1974 NBA Draft.
John Drew quickly established himself as a premier scorer his rookie year, joining Lou Hudson and Tom Van Arsdale to form a trio of players that averaged 18 or more points during the 1974-75 season.
In addition to the 18.5 points per game, Drew added a team-high 10.7 rebounds a night, the highest total of his career.
The following season, Drew secured a place on the All-Star team as he totaled 21.6 points, 8.6 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game.
Drew scored 20 or more points per game five times during his tenure with the Hawks, while leading the team in scoring six different seasons before being sent to Utah along with Freeman Williams in exchange for Dominique Wilkins.
The 12,621 points Drew totaled during his eight years with the Hawks ranks as the fifth-most in franchise history.
