With the Los Angeles Lakers apparently focused on waiting to make a free agency splash, let’s take a look at a few big names they could target in 2018.

According to Magic Johnson, the Los Angeles Lakers aren’t looking to make a splash this offseason. Instead, the plan appears to be to play the waiting game and do some big spending during the 2018 offseason.

That makes plenty of sense, especially when you consider Paul George has already made his intention to join the Lakers clear. While that could change in the next year, it seems as though Magic is content to wait for his opportunity to sign PG-13. That, however, doesn’t mean he’d stop there or focus solely on stealing George from the Indiana Pacers.

There are other big names who the Lakers could look to sign next offseason. While Los Angeles hasn’t been the prime free agent destination in recent years that it once was, that could soon change. The young assets the team has compiled offer significant upside, and a star addition or two could bring it all together.

As luck would have it, there are a number of exciting players who could be available next offseason. While a number of them will need to decline player options, the opportunity is absolutely there for the Lakers to change their fortunes with some splashy signings in 2018.
