2. Houston Rockets

Back in 2014, the Houston Rockets were a legitimate threat to steal Chris Bosh away from the Heat in free agency. Though they ultimately missed out on the possibility of a James HardenDwight Howard-Bosh trio, a return to the court could bring this useful stretch-4 to Clutch City after all.

More from Hoops Habit

At the time, the Rockets pitched a Twin Towers scenario alongside D-12. Now, they could tailor their pitch to include an MVP frontrunner and Mike D’Antoni‘s best playmaker since Steve Nash in Harden, a high-powered offense to capitalize on Bosh’s three-point abilities and the chance to contribute to a Western power near his hometown without placing pressure on him to do too much.

Clint Capela is a young center on the rise and Ryan Anderson had a tremendous year in Mike D’s system, but Capela can’t score outside the paint, Anderson is dreadful on the defensive end and Nene is a free agent this summer.

In the playoffs, having someone with a versatile skill set who can play the 4 or the 5, hold his own on the glass and still spread the floor on the other end would be a huge addition, even if he were limited to bench duty. Bosh is no defensive stopper, but he’d be a terrific frontcourt addition nonetheless.

However, the Warriors and Spurs remain in a tier of their own out West, and compared to our No. 1 option, it’s hard to argue a long-awaited signing with Houston is Bosh’s best choice.
