Free Throws Save The Day

The Washington Wizards shot 53 free throws in Tuesday night’s game against the Phoenix Suns. As a team, they made 42-of-53 in the game. It is their most attempts this season, easily eclipsing the 40 free throws they shot against the Philadelphia 76ers on Feb. 24.

Forward Bojan Bogdanovic didn’t score his 29 points by scoring a lot of threes, surprisingly. He did make 5-of-9 shots. But he also made 16 free throws in the game, going a perfect 16-for-16 from the line.

Bogdanovic set a franchise record in the process.

It was another close game, but Bogdanovic’s ability to draw fouls and get to the free throw line inevitably saved the day. He went 7-for-7 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter on his way to scoring 12 points in the period.

It also didn’t help reserve point guard Brandon Jennings was ejected for his role after an on-court altercation between teammate Jason Smith and Suns forward Jared Dudley. Fans have still yet to see Jennings fully in the rotation, but there’s still time with 20 games left in the season.
