Just when it looked as though the Sacramento Kings would have a chance to make the postseason, Rudy Gay suffered a season-ending injury. Just when it looked as though that injury would end Sacramento’s season, DeMarcus Cousins helped the Kings bounce back.
The Kings lost back-to-back games to open the week, but have since won two in a row to pull back into the postseason picture.
Cousins posted 19 points and 10 rebounds in a lopsided loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, and had 42 points and 14 assists in a heartbreaking loss to the Chicago Bulls. He followed with 22 points, 13 rebounds, six assists, three steals, and two blocks in a win over the Detroit Pistons.
Cousins then went off for 28 points, 11 rebounds, nine assists, three steals, and a block in a shocking upset of LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Though the Kings may still be in disarray, even the NBA’s coaches can’t deny how sensational Cousins has been this season. He’ll appear in his third career All-Star Game as he looks to maintain elite production as a big man.
No matter how erratic the Kings may be as a team, there’s no rational way to dispute the tremendous play of one Boogie Cousins.
